A COLLECTOR of the rare and the classic car is the owner of a vehicle so rare it has been dubbed a 'unicorn.'

Ryan Lockett of Ashley Automotive on Wallisdown Road, owns the wonderfully styled BMW Z8, produced between 1999 to 2003, which featured in the James Bond film The World is not Enough with Pierce Brosnan behind the wheel.

Ryan said: "I love the BMW Z8 because it is the sheer rarity of her.

"This car is basically a unicorn. Only a hand full were ever made and this was the car chosen to star in the 1999 James Bond film 'The World Is not Enough.'

Ryan has expanded his 'weird and wonderful' car collection into new premises on Wallisdown Road at The old Kwik Fit site.

The BMW Z8 sports car was launched just two months before the film's release.

James Bond needs no introduction. As the world’s most refined fictional secret agent, 007 remains famous for exercising his licence to kill.

Iconically paired with Aston Martin, it took films fans by surprise when BMW announced a partnership with EON productions to showcase the German marque's latest offerings.

Yet, it was the Z8 that felt truly James Bond.

Ryan added: "I trade in the weird and wonderful end of the car industry, classics, American, limited edition, anything unusual really. I'm also the third generation car dealer in my family, so it is in the blood.

"If you are looking for something a little more than your average car or bike without spending a fortune, then we are here to help. Due to a very good summer of trading I've recently expanded into my new premises on Wallisdown Road at The old Kwik Fit site.

"I've even added a coffee shop called Lockett Fuel, which supports local suppliers and sells the finest Bad Hand Coffee."
