THE number of people testing positive for Covid-19 in Dorset has risen by 155 in the last 24 hours.

Some 105 people have been confirmed as having the virus across the BCP and Dorset Council area in the past day.

The latest data on the Government website shows 50 new cases in the Dorset Council area up to just before 4pm on Tuesday, October 13.

This means that since the start of the pandemic, 1,067people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the Dorset Council area.

The rate per 100,000 of the population is 281.9.

In the BCP Council area, 105 new cases have been confirmed bringing the total number of people who have tested positive during the pandemic to 1,934. The rate has increased to 489.2

Meanwhile, in the New Forest, a further 13 cases have been confirmed bringing the total to 733 cases overall. The rate their now stands at 407 per 100,000.

Data released by NHS England on Tuesday afternoon showed another 87 patients have died with Covid-19 in hospitals in England.

The total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England has risen 30,594.

NHS England said the patients were aged between 30 and 96-years-old and all but six, aged between 72 and 86, had known underlying health conditions.

Three of the deaths occurred in hospitals in the south west, but none in Dorset.
