ONE of Harry Redknapp's former Sandbanks home has gone on the market and is expected to sell for a record £11m.

The waterfront mansion is one of two properties in the millionaire's resort that used to belong to Harry and Sandra Redknapp currently up for sale.

Bournemouth Echo:

The former Cherries and Tottenham Hotspur manager and 2019 I'm a Celebrity winner sold the mock-Tudor home in 2015 for £6.9m after 13 years living there.

Bournemouth Echo:

It was bought off of him by millionaire businessman Barry Bester, the founder of Topps Tiles.

He spent £2.5m gutting and refurbishing the waterfront home.

The tile magnate is now ready to wipe the floor with the property market after listing it for sale for a whopping £11m.

The current record price paid for a Sandbanks property stands at £8.1m.

Bournemouth Echo:

The house, called Harbour Gate, has six bedrooms, a kitchen and breakfast room, dining room, lounge, cinema room, library, indoor swimming pool, gym with sauna and an office.

Bournemouth Echo:

Outside there are two sun terraces and a private jetty that has 'parking' for two jet skis which are hoisted into the water by way of a hydraulic lift.

The property also comes with a three bedroom detached gatehouse.

Bournemouth Echo:

There is also a double garage which has a professional dog grooming bathtub and a driveway parking for 10 cars.

Further along the harbour is a second luxury, waterfront home that the Redknapps owned up until 2003. It is up for sale for £5m.

Bournemouth Echo:

Adrian Dunford, of Fine & Country Sandbanks estate agents, expects both properties to be snapped up soon.

He said since the easing of lockdown there has been a surge in demand for homes by the sea, mainly due to an 'exodus' of people from London.

Bournemouth Echo:

He said: "I would say that property prices in Sandbanks and the surrounding area have jumped by 10 per cent in the space of three months.

"Homes with sea views have risen by 15 per cent.

"About 90 per cent of enquiries are from potential buyers from London. There seems to be an exodus from London at the moment.

"This could be because there has been a very low number of coronavirus cases in Dorset throughout the pandemic unlike London.

"People have also realised they can work from home and don't necessarily have to be in an office in the city."

Mr Dunford said he expects Harbour Gate to set a record for Sandbanks property prices.

Bournemouth Echo:

He said: "It is one of the best homes on Sandbanks both in terms of the property and its position. There is nothing else like it along the Sandbanks waterfront.

"It is the most recognisable property on Sandbanks as well. It looks like a country home that is on the water. It would not look out of place in the middle of the New Forest.

Bournemouth Echo:

"It overlooks the entrance to the harbour and is perfect for watching all the boats coming and going.

"The current owner has spent £2.5m renovating the house in the last couple of years.

"It has a new roof, a new cinema room and the indoor pool has been redone. He has gutted it and made some internal alterations for a bigger floor plan.

"The quality of workmanship elevates this house above neighbouring mansions."

Bournemouth Echo:

Mr Bester made his fortune after he co-founded Topps Tiles in the 1980s.

He managed the company for 26 years and saw it expand massively with over 240 stores across the country. He stepped down from his role as chairman in 2011 and sold his remaining shares in the company for £16 million.
