MORE than 150 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Dorset over the last 24 hours, latest figures show.

Data released by the government shows in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm today, 157 cases were recorded in Dorset.

118 of these cases came in the BCP Council area, meaning there has now been 1,619 cases since the start of the pandemic.

This give an infection rate since the start of the pandemic of 409.5 per 100,000 people.

In the Dorset Council area, 39 people tested positive, taking the total to 932, a rate of 246.2 per 100,000 people.

Elsewhere, 13 people tested positive in the New Forest.

It means 685 have now returned positive tests since the start of the pandemic, a rate of 380.4 per 100,000.
