MEMBERS of the events industry joined forces in a show of solidarity and rallying cry to the Government for support.

Echoing demonstrations that took place in London, a limited number of people who work within the industry locally attended a socially-distanced gathering on the front steps of the Pavilion in Bournemouth town centre.

The move was part of the #WeMakeEvents, which is non-political organisation set up to raise awareness about the extreme danger the events sector is in.

The group wants Government support to help the industry survive until it is permitted to operate in a way that is not impacted by social-distancing restrictions.

Actions they are calling for include giving grants to businesses in the events supply chain, extension of the furlough scheme and extension of the self-employment scheme, tailored towards the industry.
