A DRINK driver from Swindon who was more than four times the legal limit at Mudeford Quay has been handed a suspended prison sentence by the courts.
David Laird was caught committing the motoring offence at the coastal area of Christchurch on Sunday, September 27.
A hearing at Poole Magistrates’ Court the following day was told the 32-year-old was at the wheel of a Vauxhall Astra.
The defendant gave a test reading of 155 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath ¬– the legal limit is 35 micrograms.
Laird, of Colton Road, Swindon, admitted a single charge of drink driving.
District judge Stephen Nicholls issued him with a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, and banned him from driving for 36 months.
He was also ordered to pay £128 surcharge and £85 costs.
