A MAN has died in hospital following a serious crash in Ferndown.

Officers were called to reports of a collision at 3.39pm on Saturday, September 26, at the entrance of Dudsbury Golf Club off the B3073 Christchurch Road.

The incident involved a yellow Alfa Romeo Spider, which had collided with a gate.

Officers attended, along with the ambulance service, and a Ferndown man aged in his 70s was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Issuing an update on the evening of Thursday, October 1, a Dorset Police spokeswoman said the man died of his injuries on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 30. His family are aware and the coroner has been notified.

Sergeant Lee Savage, of the traffic unit, said: “Our thoughts are very much with the man’s family and loved ones at this very difficult time.

“Enquiries into this collision remain ongoing and I would appeal to any witnesses who have not yet spoken to officers to please contact Dorset Police.

“I would also ask anyone who was travelling in the area at the relevant time and has dashcam fitted to their vehicle to please check their footage for anything that might assist our investigation.”
