A PERSON was trapped in a car after a serious crash in north Dorset.

Fire crews from Sturminster Newton and Sherborne were called just after 6pm yesterday to a two-car crash on the A357 Stalbridge Road, Henstridge.

A grey BMW and a silver Hyundai crashed, leaving one of the cars on its side.

A passenger was trapped inside the Hyundai. Firefighters extricated the person and carried out casualty care for both the driver and passenger until the arrival of the ambulance service.

A police spokeswoman said that both driver and passenger of the Hyundai sustained serious injuries, while all three occupants of the BMW were not believed to be seriously injured.

The road was closed until about 10pm.
