A LIFEBOAT crew from Poole went to the aid of a yacht which had lost both its rudders.
They launched just before 2pm on Friday to help an 18ft Mini Trans-Atlantic race yacht with three people on board.
It was about four miles south of Poole Harbour with moderate sea conditions and fresh winds.
The lifeboat towed the stricken vessel back to Poole Quay Boat Haven where the Poole Coastguard rescue team were on hand to meet the crew.
The lifeboat returned to station. After refuelling, a wash down and sanitisation the lifeboat was ready for service by 4.45pm.
