TWO charities in Dorset are set to benefit from a fundraising night of boxing later this year.

Seconds Out White Collar Boxing will stage an event at Redlands Community Sports Hub, in Weymouth, on November 14.

All participants will be fundraising for either Weldmar Hospicecare or Julia’s House Children’s Hospice.

Portland resident Thomas Doggett-Hill, 29, said he wanted to take part and raise money for Julia’s House to help families going through difficult times.

He said: “I am taking on this challenge because I want to help families facing unimaginable heartbreak - the knowledge that their child may not live into adulthood.

"Julia’s House provides frequent, flexible care for children with life-limited or life-threatening conditions to give their parents a much-needed break.

"Amazingly, Julia’s House has to raise 95 per cent of the money it needs each year to run this vital service which is why I have chosen to support them. Your kind sponsorship will make a life-changing difference to these families.

“As a parent myself I couldn’t imagine the heartache of knowing I may outlive one of my kids.

“Julia’s house do some amazing work supporting these families in ways that make a massive difference. This all has a cost and Julia’s House needs our support. I will be fighting under the nickname ‘The Bronchiectasis Warrior’. As this is my health condition I have taken on this as a nickname and started the Bronchiectasis Warrior movement where I have been releasing a bio about my health conditions and how I cope with them and being there as a central point for others with the same condition. It’s made a massive impact and I’ve helped many get stronger and fitter and feel better than they have in years.”

A spokesperson for Seconds Out Boxing said: “The purpose of Seconds Out Boxing charity events is to help people raise funds for selected local charities, within a reasonable distance to each prestigious show. In doing this, the impact should be seen and felt in and around the local communities.
