THE annual Championship Dog Show has become the latest event to fall victim to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Bournemouth Canine Association Championship dog show has been cancelled after a consultation with BCP Council.

A statement from secretary Sally Duffin said: “It is with great regret that after more consultation with our local council there is no way with the new Government guidelines that the Bournemouth Canine Association Championship dog show can go ahead therefore the show has to be cancelled.

“We have to consider the health and wellbeing of all that would attend this event and is of the most paramount importance, exhibitors, stewards, judges, helpers, spectators, contractors and committee.

“With Covid spreading again at a very fast rate and the many places in lockdown, we the committee feel this is our only course of action.

“We would like to thank everyone that entered to give a fantastic entry that I know would have pleased every judge.

“Finally to the exhibitors that gave us so much encouragement to try and put the show on, I say a very personal thank you.”
