A MAN has appeared in court after stealing a Cancer Research charity collection tin from Subway in Bournemouth town centre.
Andrew James Benn, aged 42 and of no fixed abode, was charged with the theft of the pot, which contained an unknown amount of cash, from the restaurant franchise in Post Office Road on November 29, 2019.
Appearing in court on Friday, September 4, Benn admitted the offence and was ordered to pay £50 compensation.
He was committed to prison for 12 weeks, suspended for 12 months, with the bench noting his criminal record and the "mean" nature of the crime.
The defendant was ordered by the courts to have drug dependency treatment for a period of six months.
