RACIST graffiti was sprayed onto the front of a Dorset shop and an alleyway in a "very unpleasant and upsetting" hate crime.

An investigation has been launched by police into the racially aggravated criminal damage incident in Blandford.

Shortly before 3.30am on Thursday, September 3, racist wording was spray onto the premises and a nearby alleyway in West Street.

Officers investigating the incident have released a CCTV image of a person they a would like to speak to.

PC Kate Schofield, of Blandford police, said: “This was a very unpleasant and upsetting incident for the victim and I would like to reassure them and the community that a detailed investigation is underway. Hate crime of any form will simply not be tolerated in our communities.

“As part of our early enquiries we have obtained a CCTV image. While I appreciate the image is not very clear, it may be that someone recognises this person and I would urge them to please contact Dorset Police.

"I would also ask anyone with information to please come forward."
