A SURREY man has been banned from returning to Swanage for 12 months after assaulting a man at a pub in the seaside town.
Steven William O'Sullivan, aged 36, appeared by live link before Poole Magistrates' Court on Monday, August 24, in relation to an incident at The Anchor Inn on Saturday night.
A Dorset Police spokesman said: "We were called at 11.05pm on Saturday, August 22, to a report of a disturbance at The Anchor Inn pub in High Street, Swanage.
"Officers attended and a 19-year-old local man reported he had been assaulted. He had not sustained any serious injuries.
"Following enquiries, a 36-year-old man from Surrey was arrested and subsequently charged with assault."
O'Sullivan admitted assaulting a man by beating him.
The defendant, whose address was listed as Chaucer Road, Ashford Surrey, was issued with a community order which stated he must not enter the town of Swanage for 12 months.
He was also ordered to pay £85 compensation and £85 court costs.
