I TOTALLY agree with the Rev Pit Martin’s letter of Friday, August 14.

For some time in your letters page I have noticed the many letters written about how bad things are in the conurbation, and constantly sniping at the new council, with which the majority of us were delighted. I can’t help thinking they are written by disgruntled Tories trying to rubbish the new council as they cannot bear losing power and wish to regain power by any means.

The new council have done much more for ordinary people, not like the last lot who seemingly concentrated on the more affluent area.

The first thing the new council did was to start reopening the toilets, permanently closed by the Conservatives. My Mum, who was 92, could not venture out shopping anywhere because of this ridiculous piece of cost saving.

Let’s have more of us like the good rev and point out all the good things in the area done by BCP with much reduced revenue. These letter writers, apart from anything else, are not helping the economy recover by rubbishing everything, but of course their only pursuit is power by any means.
