A WARRANT for the arrest of a Basingstoke man was issued after he failed to show up for court.

Derek John Strachan, of Hatch Warren Lane, is charged with two counts of making indecent images of children.

The 37-year-old was due at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday morning, but did not show up.

District Judge Timothy Pattinson ordered a warrant for his arrest.

The charges state that between July 1, 2017 and June 6, 2019, Strachan made 12 child sex abuse images at category A, and five at category B.

The Sentencing Council state that category A offences include “penetrative activity” as well as activity involving “an animal or sadism”.
