A whopping 5500 burglaries were reported in Bradford over a twelve month period- and some streets have more reports than others.

Using police data, we are able to determine which Bradford streets are most commonly targeted by thieves- and how many of these criminals have been taken to court

Streets in Bradford with the highest burglary rates

According to police data, the street with the most reported burglaries between June 2019 and June 2020 is Leeds Road with 21 reported incidents. Given the length of the road, this higher number might be unsurprising to some.

Park Lane is the street with the second most burglary reports, with 13 being made between June 2019 and June 2020.

Walker Avenue, Parkwood Rise, Market Street and Idlethorp Way each received 12 burglary reports over the last year.

However, the streets with the highest burglary reports in June 2020 alone are very different.

Moorgate Avenue and Woodlands Grove topped the list with 3 burglary reports each.

Alcester Garth and Marriner’s Walk weren’t far behind with 2 reported burglaries in each street.

Burglary trends in Bradford

As you can see from the graph, burglaries in Bradford peaked at Christmas time in 2019.

The month with the highest amount of burglaries was in January when 560 incidents were reported to police.

During coronavirus lockdown, you would expect burglary rates to drop as more people are forced to stay indoors- and this is reflected in Bradford’s burglary statistics.

Between April (when lockdown was introduced) and May, burglary rates decreased by over 18%.

How many burglary cases have been solved?

Out of the 5505 burglaries reported between June 2019 and June 2020, 112 cases have been taken to court- a further 199 are under investigation.

Shockingly, in 82% of the burglaries no suspect has been identified or caught.
