Police dealing with a road traffic collision on the A31 in Ferndown are asking motorists to please avoid the area.
At 4.44am today Dorset Police received a report of a road traffic collision at the Ameysford roundabout in Ferndown.
An artic trailer unit had tipped over causing a large diesel spill.
The driver was uninjured.
At this time a diversion for the westbound traffic was been put in place.
However, the road has now been closed in both directions to allow recovery to take place, and motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible.
Officers would like to thank motorists for their patience while partner agencies are dealing with the incident.
It is understood that the road has now reopened.
Update: #TravelDorsetAlert: A31 westbound - Police have handed the closure over to @HighwaysSWEST who are clearing the road following the fuel spill. Judging by delays on surrounding roads, the closure is still in place.
