POLICE were forced to drive into a motorbike to stop an offender escaping.

The Dorset Police No Excuse Team was responding to reports of a stolen motorbike being driven dangerously by a disqualified offender.

A spokesman said: "We were in the right place at the right time as we soon located the bike stationary and unattended, just as the offender was running back to it.

"The offender then got back on it and tried making off again. To prevent any pursuit and danger to the public we made contact with it.

"The risk of us not doing this was high. The rider was then knocked off and again made off on foot from the scene, leaving his left trainer behind. The investigation is ongoing to arrest him."
