FOUR men are due to appear in court after a series of alleged violent assaults in Bournemouth town centre.

The incidents are said to have taken place during the early hours of Sunday August 31 last year.

It was reported that at around 2.40am a man was hit over the head with a bottle in Old Christchurch Road, near to Chkn Station. He suffered an injury to his ear that required hospital treatment.

Around 15 minutes later an altercation was alleged to have occurred outside TK Maxx in Old Christchurch Road. A man was said to have been pushed to the ground and another man who intervened was reportedly punched and kicked.

A further incident occurred in The Square, where a man was reportedly punched and kicked.

Following enquiries, a 22-year-old Bournemouth man was arrested and has been issued with a postal requisition to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday August 11 for offences of affray and inflicting grievous bodily harm.

Another 22-year-old Bournemouth man was also arrested and has been issued with a postal requisition to appear at the same court on the same date for an offence of affray.

Two further men, both aged 19 and from Bournemouth, attended for voluntary police interviews and have also been issued with postal requisitions to appear on the same occasion for an offence of affray.
