IF EVER an event truly lived up to its name it had to be Sunbake 2000.
Thousands of pop-lovers baked in the glorious sunshine all day on July 31, 2000 for the annual party on the beach.
It was the second time 2CR FM had hosted the event and it fast become one of the region's biggest free outdoor pop concerts, which attracted a crowd of around 30,000 cheering pop fans.
Chart topper who graced the specially constructed 44ft stage included Scooch, Fierce, Madasun, Made in London, Dum Dums, Emmie and En Trance's lead singer Kelly Llorrenna.
Friends Sophie Rawles-Mulford, Limara Belane, Gemma Hartnell and Beulah Israel, were at the beach from first thing in the morning.
All four were from Bournemouth and agreed the event, also supported by Eurobell Telecommunication, was brilliant for the town.
