A CARE home in Poole made use of the sunny weather to host a lockdown version of their annual Summer Fete.

Although The Lindsay Bupa Care Home weren’t able to host its usual Summer Fete, the care home wanted to do something to lift the spirits of residents during lockdown and thank staff for all their hard work.

Clients relished playing a variety of games they may have played at the fair on Wednesday July, including tin can alley, and hook a duck and ‘soak em’, which involved throwing a water logged sponge at a member of the care home team or fellow residents, and proved to be a firm favourite of the day.

Speaking about the day’s activities, 98-year-old Doris Kaye, resident of The Lindsay Bupa Care Home said: “We had such a wonderful day playing games and enjoying being out in the sunshine together.

“It really put a smile on everyone’s face – I especially enjoyed getting to soak my husband George, we haven’t laughed that much in a long time.”

Residents and staff came together to enjoy a barbecue and their very own candy floss machine.

Claudia Carvell, Home Manager at The Lindsay Bupa Care Home, added: “We’re so glad we managed to host our Summer Fete in some capacity this year.

“Although the set up and circumstances were different to previous years, we all had a blast and took the opportunity to say a huge thank you to our amazing staff and residents for pulling together as they have during this lockdown.

“The team have really gone above and beyond to support all of our residents during these times, so it was great to see everyone getting involved, with smiles on their faces, enjoying the day together.”

The Lindsay Bupa Care Home is situated in Bournemouth and welcomes residents in need of nursing or residential care, including those living with dementia, Parkinson’s or Huntington’s.
