BOURNEMOUTH has been named the fourth best ‘city’ to visit this summer.

Search engine for holiday rentals, Holidu, has created a list of top 10 cities to visit, taking into consideration the average number of hours of sun, average temperature, number of parks, lakes, beaches, swimming pools and ice-cream shops.

Bournemouth and Poole, although both not technically cities, ranked fourth and fifth respectively.

About Bournemouth, Holidu said: “An unsurprising entry into this ranking is the glorious coastal town of Bournemouth.

“Sharing its coastline with the neighbouring city of Poole, these two together make up Europe’s largest natural harbour, making it a dream destination for watersports lovers.

“Home to seven miles of blue flag rated sandy beaches, you will be spoilt for choice when deciding which stretch of sand to spend your summer days at.

“With so many beaches come plenty of ice cream shops too, perfect for enjoying a cool treat under the sun.”

On Poole, it said: “This is a bustling tourist spot and its Sandbanks Beach is even a world-famous one.

“If you’re not a fan of the beach then you can spend the day at Poole Park, a huge green area which has a variety of activities from watersports on the lake, and ice rink and numerous play areas.”
