A VINTAGE clothing store formerly based in the Dolphin Shopping Centre is due to reopen under a new name in Pokesdown on Saturday.

Go To Marketplace, owned by Ringwood couple James and Rosie King, have moved to a new location next to Pokesdown Station.

The business, formerly know as Go To Vintage, used to operate in the Dolphin Shopping Centre in Poole but were forced to leave due to the inflated business rates.

Owner James King said: “After we started so fast and well at the Dolphin Shopping Centre on a short term lease, we then went to renew but couldn't take the risk of increased rates and long term lease so had to leave.

“After we left the Dolphin in January, we did a post looking for pop up spaces in Bournemouth every Saturday.

“Sammy Griffin and Jason Griffin from Brand Neue in Pokesdown reached out to me to use their space for free to help us continue to grow.”

The shop, which has been fitted with sustainable parts, will be opening for the first time in its new location at 934 Christchurch Road at 10am.

The shop features a wealth of retro clothing including branded sweatshirts, jumpers and fleeces, basketball vests, and corduroy and print shirts.

As well as selling vintage clothes, the vintage clothing store are also upcycling old clothes into new garments.

Since forming in October 2019, Go To marketplace have forged a partnership with Bournemouth University and will continue to run their weekly pop ups on the Talbot Campus.

James said that since operating solely online during lockdown, he and Rosie are looking forward to welcoming customers back in person.

He added: “Since Covid-19 hit, it’s been hard to keep going online but we have now gone ahead and rebranded as Go To Marketplace and I've joined forces with Sammy to push the brand forward.

“I want to keep this sustainable business going and do my part to protect our future.

“The space will be a creative space still and be unique as we will have retro video games for people to stay and enjoy an experience with us.”
