THOUSANDS of people have flocked to Bournemouth beach today on what is one of the hottest days of the year so far.

Bournemouth-based weather enthusiast Bournemouth and Poole Weather said temperatures are thought to have reached between 27C and 28C today.

The roads and beaches have been busy as people travelled to the seaside to make the most of the hot weather.

Speaking today, Jon Weaver, BCP Council’s head of tourism and events, said: “We have plans in place and additional resources available. We have ambulance teams out, additional security staff, RNLI lifeguards and we have a full compliment of staff out there just making sure that everything runs as best it can during what we would say is a normal summer day on the beach."
