THE DORSET based charity who act as a voice for the Gypsies and Travellers of Dorset, will again be holding their annual Roma Holocaust Memorial Service next week.
Kushti Bok will host the commemorative service at Kingston Maurward College in Dorchester on Monday August 3.
In the lead-up to the event, the Romani flag will be flown over the County Hall in Dorchester, as well as the three town halls in Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch from Friday July 31 to the day of the service.
Betty Blue Smith Packman-Billington, chair of Dorset based traveller group Kushti-Bok said: “This service is to honour and remember not only the 2897 Roma and Sinti, women, children, the elderly and the infirm, that remained in the Gypsy camp and were annihilated in one day and night at Auschwitz-Birkenau on August 2, 1944, but for all who suffered and died in the Holocaust.
“We at Kushti Bok are very proud that the Romany and Gypsy flag will be flying over Dorset’s County Hall in Dorchester and the three town halls of BCP council from July 31 to August 3, 2020.”
