EMERGENCY services are dealt with a crash in East Dorset involving a council bin lorry and a car.

Police, ambulance and fire service crews were called to the scene in Parley Cross, West Parley, shortly before 12pm on Monday.

The collision took place in New Road near the traffic lights and the parade of shops.

An investigation has been launched by Dorset Council to determine the circumstances of the incident, which involved one of their waste service vehicles and a silver Nissan Micra.

Fire crews from three stations rushed to the scene, with a lane closure in place while the incident was dealt with.

A Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "We received a call at 11.56am  regarding an RTC on New Road, West Parley

"Crews from Redhill Park, Ferndown, Springbourne attended the incident which involved one vehicle in a collision with the side of a refuse truck. Nobody was trapped so the crews assistance wasn’t needed. We had left the scene by 12:30pm."

A Dorset Police spokesman said: "We received a report at 11.53am of a collision at Parley Cross in West Parley. It was reported to involve a car and a dustcart.

"Officers attended the scene. There are no reports of any serious injuries. The vehicles were recovered and the road was cleared at around 1.20pm. There were no arrests."

A Dorset Council spokesman said: "One of our vehicles was involved in a collision earlier today on New Road in West Parley.

"Dorset Council waste services officers from our Ferndown depot attended the scene and we have launched an investigation to determine what happened."
