CHAIRMAN Jeff Mostyn thanked Cherries’ fans for their support and said the club’s incredible journey would continue.

Mostyn took to social media on Sunday night, following the Dorset outfit’s relegation from the Premier League after five consecutive seasons.

Eddie Howe’s men sealed a 3-1 victory over Everton at Goodison Park – but Aston Villa’s point at West Ham sent them back to the Championship for the first time since 2015.

A post on Mostyn's Twitter account said: “Having had the time to reflect on today’s events, I just wanted to reach out to all AFCB supporters who I know like me will be feeling immense disappointment this evening.

“The boys were superb today and we achieved success in the only element we were in control of today.

“We move on with you, together as a team. Thank you for all your messages of appreciation and continued support, the incredible AFCB journey will continue.

“My best wishes to you all. Jeff”

Club legend Steve Fletcher, who is part of Eddie Howe’s coaching staff, also posted: “Extremely heartbreaking for me to post but I wanted to thank every single #afcb fan for their support and devotion to our amazing football club.

“Your messages of love for everyone involved and pride in what we have all achieved is so emotional.

“Eleven years of pure elation beyond anyone’s wildest dreams.

“We have been through almost everything that could have been possibly thrown at us over the years but one constant that’s seen us succeed is that we are a FAMILY and that is our strength.

“One setback will not break us – it will make us. Love, Fletch.”
