FOLLOWING their four month closure, The Clay Studio in Christchurch is open again after receiving a Good to Go certificate from VisitEngland.

Staff at the workspace on High Street have been busy reconfiguring the studio in order to enable easier social distancing whilst maintaining their relaxing and creative atmosphere.

The Clay Studio, which reopened on Saturday July 18, has operated a take-home service with on-line ordering of pottery that can be painted at home and returned to the studio for glazing and firing, which has proven very popular during lockdown.

Managing Director of The Clay Studio Mary Payne, said: “In the four months that we have been closed we have missed seeing our customers.

“We love seeing the different pieces created and the joy on customers’ faces when they see their glazed and fired pottery.

“Our paint-at-home service has been very successful and we have seen some amazing items painted during lockdown. We will continue to provide this alternative.”

Customers can choose from pottery packs, all-in-one projects or they can choose individual pottery items and paints from The Clay Studio’s extensive range.

Physical changes in the layout of The Clay Studio have been made following government guidelines and this means that our capacity has to be reduced.

For this reason and until further notice admission will be through advance booking only with specific guidelines for time spent in the Studio, for the health and safety of our customers and staff.
