TWO men were arrested after a speeding car crashed into a tree in Bournemouth.

Police followed a vehicle seen speeding on East Overcliff Drive at around 11.45pm last night.

A short time later it collided with a tree in Manor Road.

Dorset Police officers were in attendance, assisted by the ambulance and fire services. Two men were taken to hospital for treatment to facial injuries that are not believed to be serious.

The road was closed to allow emergency services to deal with the incident. It reopened at around 1.15am this morning.

A 22-year-old man from London was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and driving offences. A 31-year-old man from Bournemouth was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and being carried in a motor vehicle taken without the owner’s consent.

They are both currently assisting officers with their enquiries.
