FORDINGBRIDGE Town Council has approved funding for new lighting at the skatepark.

The funding for the lights was agreed by the council’s policy and finance committee on June 24 but was approved by the full council on Wednesday (July 1).

The quote received for the work was £12,344 plus VAT. Contributions of £1,000 from the Alderholt Coop and £900 from a JustGiving page set up by residents will contribute to the funds. The previous meeting also heard the council could get funding contributions from Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL.

A crowdfunding campaign was started last November to get the broken floodlights fixed at the skatepark.

The new skatepark was officially opened on June 1, 2019. The total cost of the project was around £130,000 with funds from the town council, New Forest District Council, councillor individual NFDC grants and All the Cool Stuff.

During the meeting, councillors were told four tenders had been received to provide Christmas lights as the existing contract was up for renewal.

Councillors were told further evaluation was needed and officers with councillors would look at them in detail and report back to the council.
