RINGWOOD is set to lose one of its post office branches which is closing next month.

The Post Office branch, which is located in the McColls store on Southampton Road, is scheduled to close from 6pm on August 26.

A Post Office spokesperson, said: “The operator for Ringwood Post Office has resigned and the premises that we do not own, will be withdrawn for Post Office on 26 August at 6pm. The shop where the Post Office is based is also closing in August.

“We understand how important a post office is to a community and we are committed to providing a post office in the area. We are looking at ways to provide post office services. Any retailer interested in incorporating a post office in their premises should email ND.enquiries@postoffice.co.uk or 0333 345 5560, then select option 2. The vacancy is advertised on runapostoffice.co.uk

“In the interim alternative branches include Parsonage Barn Lane and Poulner.”

Parsonage Barn Lane Post Office is located at 43-45 Parsonage Barn Lane, Ringwood and the post office in Poulner is in Butlers Lane.

The McColls store will stop trading on September 11.

A McColl’s spokesperson said: “Having explored all options, regretfully we have taken the difficult decision not to renew the lease at the McColl’s store on Southampton Road in Ringwood. The store’s last day of trading will be 11th of September 2020.

“We are saddened to no longer be operating the store and our priority has been to support all affected colleagues.”
