Dorset has been revealed as one of the most popular places in the UK for people to relocate after lockdown.

As previously reported on the Daily Echo, Dorset is set to be a top destination for people looking to move home after lockdown ends, according to new research from online mortgage broker Trussle.

We invited people who follow the Bournemouth Echo Facebook page to tell us why they love living in Dorset.

Here are just some of their responses.

1. I love living out in the Dorset countryside. It's peaceful and there's so many nice walks you can go on and there's a good sense of community here too. Not sure I'd ever want to move back to the towns though.

2. My son and I relocated to Dorset (Poole) from Brighton 2.5 years ago. My parents grew up here so I have some family in the area and my mum moved back here many years ago. We love it, I find it a slower pace of life, and there’s just so much to do and see! We do have a habit of revisiting the same places but have a loooong list of new places we want to visit (after the pandemic). Traffic is terrible through, out of lockdown there are a lot of queues most of the day in some areas and it drives me mad!

3. Best Ape Rescue Centre in the world.!! Sandy beaches to small coves, fossils, the Air Show and proximity to the New Forest just over the border in Hampshire.

4. I’ve lived in Dorset all my life. There’s so many nice places to walk and days out.

5. The beach - all of it, but especially Hengistbury Head and Sandbanks, the New Forest, and the big town centers. Got the best of everything, right on our doorstep.

6. Got to be one of the most varied and beautiful counties in Britain. Having spent over half of my 62 years here, I have never regretted the move south and even consider myself an adopted Dorset lad.

7. I love the scenery! Its stunning, in all weathers! So grateful to live here in Poole, in the middle of everything that I need.

8. So many reasons to love living in Dorset. So much beautiful countryside to visit and walk in. The Purbeck’s alone are spectacular. Mile and miles of beautiful, clean (when the grackles aren’t here) beaches. Some lovely forests, including proximity to the New Forest. Some lovely villages and towns (yes there are problems everywhere in larger towns, but actually we are quite lucky how low the Dorset crime rate is). A great university for students to study at. Good transport links to London.

9. With our dramatic Jurassic coastline and beautiful beaches. Gorgeous countryside. It is a privilege to be able to call Dorset my home.

10. Having not grown up in Dorset I may appreciate it more than others. I love that we can we easily visit the beach, hit the towns or go for a lovely Country walk and I couldn't think of anywhere better to raise my children.

11. I moved away from Bournemouth when I was in my 20s. Headed to London and lived there for 25 years and now I'm living back here again. Bournemouth town centre needs tidying up and needs a cash injection for retail etc. The coastline is absolutely fabulous, beautiful beaches and quaint villages inland. I won't ever leave again I've missed it too much. There are negatives wherever you live, but concentrate on the good things in life, a walk on the beach is a simple pleasure for many and nobody can take that away from you.
