A POOLE Town supporter from Northbourne is to cycle 140km over five days on his hand-built go-kart to raise money for his favourite football club.

Josh Faramus, who has high functioning autism and is a former pupil of Linwood school, hopes to raise £2000 for Poole Town to support their adult and youth teams, as well as their children’s initiative.

A young autistic boy from Northbourne, Josh’s dedication to the club has seen him become the unofficial drummer boy for Poole Town FC.

The 19-year-old has built and decorated a go-kart in Poole Town’s red and white colours, hoping the sight of it might attract new supporters to the club.

Josh said: “The club must go on. I just cannot live without the club.

“Poole Town have had a tough season due to waterlogged pitch, Covid 19 and because a few Poole Town Home games had been postponed back in the winter the income from ticket sales dropped.

“I wanted to represent Poole Town FC the best way I could, as I am a passionate Poole Town fan, but I just thought Bournemouth and Southampton get noticed a bit too much and that non-league football is being missed out by the public.”

Supported by his mum, Vicki, Josh brings his drum to every Poole Town football match, has made his own branded kit, spends his free time writing chants for the fans, and has decorated his bedroom in the club’s colours.

Josh will complete 350 laps of the the velodrome at Slades Farm, 70 laps a day over five days, to raise awareness and money for the club.

Poole Town, which runs 35 youth teams and kids initiatives, provides access to sport and equipment for local underprivileged children.

After numerous cancelled matches and the economic impact of coronavirus, the club hopes to continue to functioning for years to come.

Poole Town FC Chairman, Chris Reeves says: “What Josh is doing for the Club, which means so much to him and to so many more, has given us all a massive lift.

“He is a truly inspirational character and I am proud that Poole Town has his allegiance.

“I so hope that he gets all the support and backing that his efforts so thoroughly deserve.”

Josh hopes to raise £2,000 for his beloved Poole Town FC.
