A WHITE Volkswagen burst into flames in the middle of the busy M40 last night.
Three emergency crews rushed to the incident between Junction 10 Cherwell Valley and Banbury where the car caught on fire.
A passing motorist was able to use an extinguisher to knock back the flames before the firefighters from Bicester and Brackley arrived.

Photos from the scene show the charred vehicle but there were no signs of a driver in it.
The vehicle had suffered a mechanical fault and was spraying oil.
This ignited and a fire spread through the engine compartment and the underneath of the car.
