PLANS to expand a Manningham restaurant have been refused by Bradford Council.

In Spring an application to build a twelve metre two-storey extension to Pind, off Lumb Lane, was revealed.

It would see the extension build on a car park, with access off St Jude's Place. Due to the expansion, the number of parking spaces would be reduced by six.

It said the extension would create additional kitchen space, additional toilets, a new waiting area and a non-alcoholic bar.

Since the plans were submitted, 43 people had objected to the proposals, raising concerns including extra traffic, noise, and one that claimed there was a 'conflict of interest' as one of the officers dealing with the application had the same last name as the applicant - a Mr Ibrar.

Plan to turn Conservation Area building into restaurant approved

Planning officers have now refused the application for five different reasons. These included the reduction in parking, which could lead to more on street parking pressures, harm to the outlook of a neighbouring house, the proximity of the site to Grade II listed buildings in Hanover Square, the 'modern, industrial' appearance of the extension, an increase to congestion in the area and potential harm to highway safety.
