A GOLDFINCH was found and freed and vehicles worth a combined £50,000 were seized by police in Wimborne.
Police were locating a stolen motorhome in the area and arrested a man on suspicion of theft.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “At around 2pm on Tuesday July 7 officers from the Dorset Police Rural Crime Team and the North and East Dorset Rural Police attended an address in the Wimborne area following information of a suspected stolen motorhome at the location.
“Officers attended and seized the suspected stolen motorhome.
“A Polaris Ranger and a hydraulic chipper, both suspected to have been stolen, were seized. A Peugeot vehicle was also seized.
“An unringed goldfinch was found at the location. Following enquiries made with a wildlife crime officer, it was agreed that the goldfinch would be released back into the wild.”
“A 61-year-old man from the Wimborne area was arrested on suspicion of theft and handling stolen goods. He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.”
