TWO people have been arrested and a 16-year-old girl remains in critical condition following a suspected drugs overdose in Wimborne.

As reported, Dorset Police was called at 11.01pm on Monday from the ambulance service reporting they were taking a 16-year-old girl from Redcotts Park near St Margarets Hill in Wimborne to hospital.

The park was cordoned off for the entirety of Tuesday as police conducted their investigation.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “Following enquiries, a woman aged in her 20s from Bournemouth was arrested on suspicion of the supply of a controlled drug of class A and has been released under investigation.

“A 16-year-old boy from Wimborne was arrested on suspicion of the supply of a controlled drug of class A and is currently assisting detectives with their enquiries.

“An investigation is underway into the incident. Local officers will be patrolling the area and can be approached with any community concerns.”

The park was open again on Wednesday, with people using the tennis courts and skatepark.

One resident said: “We didn’t see anything really. The whole park was shut for the day, but we didn’t really know what was going on.

Another person added: “Someone said it was drug related and the park was closed but I wouldn’t want to speculate.”
