A BRADFORD Grammar school pupil diagnosed with a rare form of ovarian cancer has donated £3,500 of tablets to the children's oncology ward at the Leeds General Infirmary (LGI).

Tabby Wood was just 13 when she was diagnosed with cancer, but is now in remission

She set up Tabby's Trust last year to help children diagnosed with cancer and to make life a bit better for those going through the struggle of a cancer diagnosis

The kind-hearted teen came up with the idea after sitting in the oncology waiting room waiting for a review with her consultant, and watching children and families dealing so bravely with treatment. Tabby talked with her consultant and the nurses on the ward and was inspired to do something.

Last year, Tabby's Trust donated £20,000 to two cancer charities, raised through a sponsored bike ride and other events and last week Tabby and brother Ben were able to give the tablet computers to the LGI.

She said: "The visiting at the hospital is very limited during the pandemic, and it must be very difficult for everyone.

"I have used Zoom at home and I thought that the tablets would allow children on the ward to be able to virtually chat with family and friends via Zoom, as well as watch films and other things."

Tabby has a million-metre row planned with friends at Bradford Grammar in the autumn to raise more money for the charity.
