THE landlords of a Poulner pub have been showing their support for the community during the Covid-19 pandemic through a series initiatives - helping combat loneliness.

Phil Hoyle and Sarah Williams, who run the London Tavern, launched a not-for-profit takeaway service, delivering more than 100 meals to-date to vulnerable members of the community.

The pub has also been running a weekly quiz every Friday, which sees more than 30 teams regularly taking part, providing a platform for isolated residents to stay in contact and enjoy the pleasures of the pub from the comfort of their own home.

Phil said: “The coronavirus pandemic is affecting communities across the country and it’s more important than ever that we come together and do what we can to help one another. Pubs are at the beating heart of communities and we’re delighted to have continued doing our bit to support our customers during the lockdown.

“Loneliness has been a sad result of isolation for a number of our regulars and it’s comforting to know that our weekly quiz might have gone some way towards brightening their week and offering some welcome relief from lockdown.”
