A MAN was arrested for drug offences but became unwell after taking a substance during the arrest.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “At around 1.20pm on Saturday, June 27, officers carried out a stop check on a vehicle near to the Iford roundabout in Bournemouth.
“The male driver, aged 43 and from London, was arrested on suspicion of a drug driving offence.
“During his arrest, the man consumed an unknown substance and became unwell requiring medical assistance.
“Officers requested an ambulance and the man has been taken to hospital for treatment.
“The road was closed to allow emergency services to deal with the incident.”
Members of the public reported seeing seven police cars attend the scene.
