TWO people, including a 15-year-old, have been arrested after residents of a sheltered housing scheme in Christchurch were threatened with a knife.

Dorset Police was called at 2.22am on Saturday June 27 to a report of a male teenager demanding money on Nelson Drive.

It is reported that a male teenager banged on the door of two properties in the area and threatened occupants with a knife. Cash was also allegedly taken during the incident.

Officers attended and carried out a search of the area.

A 15-year-old boy from Bournemouth and a 19-year-old man from Christchurch have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary. They are currently assisting officers with their enquiries.

And now police investigating have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Detective inspector Mark Holmes, of Bournemouth CID, said: “A full investigation is underway into the incident and officers have been carrying out a thorough examination of the scene.

“The victims thankfully did not sustain any physical injuries but were understandably left feeling very shocked.

“I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or seen or heard any suspicious activity in the area at the relevant time to please get in touch.

“Local officers will be patrolling the area and can be approached with any community concerns.”
Adrian Checketts, a representative for the residents on Nelson Drive, and whose father lives there, said this is the fifth attack of the past few years.

He said: “This happened in the early hours of this morning.

“I understand two guys with knives were going around the scheme banging on doors saying ‘your bins are on fire.’

“They did it on a couple of doors and they didn’t open them.

“They then went to one lady and banged on her door. She opened and they came in and robbed her at knife point.”

Mr Checketts said they went to another resident’s home, who managed to lock them out and phone the police.

He added: "This is the fifth and most serious attack over the past few years as well as anti social behaviour against the elderly residents.

"The residents are frightened."
