A car transporter ended up in a ditch off the A31 after driving down an embankment.

Police, fire and ambulance were called to the A31 near Stoney Cross at around 10.13am on Wednesday after an articulated HGV car transporter drove off the road and down an embankment.

The incident took place on the eastbound carriageway near Castle Malwood heading towards Stoney Cross.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Fire said: "Crews from Lyndhurst, Totton and Redbridge were mobilised at 10:13 am to the A31 East between Castle Malwood and Cadnam.

"There was an articulated HGV car transporter off the public highway and down an embankment.

"There was no one trapped and the incident was left with police.

"The stop message came in at 10:42am."

Travel information service, Romanse shows heavy delays building in the area and one lane of the carriageway is blocked.

Hampshire Constabulary also attended the incident.

A spokesperson said: "We can confirm that we were called out to an incident at 10.15am this morning (24 June) following a single-vehicle collision on the A31.

"A lorry left the carriageway after it had jack-knifed, resulting in the vehicle being located at the bottom of the bank. One person received minor injuries."
