A FIRE crew from Verwood Fire Station were called to St Stephens Castle after a large group of teenagers were seen using a barbecue on the nature reserve.
Firefighters requested their Land Rover as assistance was needed to access to the site.
The barbecue was taken back to station for safe disposal.
In a statement posted on their Facebook account, Verwood Fire Station said: “At approximately 4pm we were alerted to a report of a barbecue in use at St Stephens Castle.
“On our arrival we found a gathering of approximately 12 to 15 teenagers on the cliff face cooking burgers.
“We explained the hazards associated with BBQ’s on the heath and asked them to extinguish it.
The fire crew then demonstrated to the group that despite them adding water and putting it out, the underside of the barbecue was still extremely hot.
