POLICE have arrested a local man after officers were reportedly threatened with a knife in Bournemouth this morning.
Members of the public reported seeing police and the helicopter in the area of Montgomery Avenue.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "It is reported that at around 11.25am on Monday June 22 a man threatened officers with a knife on Montgomery Avenue in Bournemouth.
"The man allegedly left the scene and officers carried out a search of the area to locate him, assisted by the NPAS helicopter.
"No one was injured during the incident.
"A 48-year-old local man was located nearby on Cunningham Crescent and arrested on suspicion of affray. He is currently assisting officers with their enquiries."
A post on the Bournemouth North Police Facebook page said: “You may have noticed a lot of police activity in the area of Montgomery Avenue this morning.
“We have arrested and detained a male. Police maybe in the area for a bit longer, but there is no need for you to be concerned about going on with your daily business.”
