Three people, including two teenagers, have been arrested after an incident in the early hours, during which a police officer was injured.
Dorset Police were called to Monmouth Beach car park in Lyme Regis just before 12.30am on Thursday following reports of a disturbance.
Officers spoke to a group of people, who reported that there had been an altercation, and they were asked to leave A 16-year-old from Uplyme reportedly refused and became abusive to officers. He was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence and assaulting an emergency worker During the incident, another teenage male reportedly struck an officer with a crutch. He suffered a head injury and was taken to hospital.
While the ambulance tried to leave with the injured police officer, a 22-year-old from Lyme Regis reportedly tried to block the ambulance and was also arrested for public order offence.
Following searches of the area, assisted by NPAS helicopter, an 18-year-old man from Seaton was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.
A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "All three are assisting officers with their enquiries.
"Dorset Police takes reports of violence towards our officers and other emergency service workers very seriously and a full investigation into this incident is underway."
