Little Rosie Walker was in so much of a hurry to come out into the world that she was born in the bathroom.

Mum Honey Bown, 32, of Weymouth, was having a bath with what she thought were pre-contractions just minutes before her newborn daughter was born in a labour lasting just 20 minutes.

Paramedics rushed to the home Honey shares with her partner Tom Walker as Rosie was being born on the bathroom floor.

At the time IT consultant technician Tom, 35, was on the phone to the 999 operator and was being talked through delivering the baby.

Honey was nine days past her due date before the shock home birth which came about because of a 'latent labour'.

She said: "I never thought anything like this would happen. I was booked in for a C section for the Monday.

"It was a shock. I never thought I'd be there on the bathroom floor screaming and giving birth. It all happened so quickly. It was quite an amazing experience."

Honey said Tom remained calm throughout the ordeal despite having to act as honorary midwife.

"When it all started happening he was on the phone to the maternity ward saying 'we're coming in', then five minutes later he had to ring the ambulance because the baby was coming out," Honey said.

"The 999 operator was talking him through getting the baby out.

"He was really good throughout the whole thing, he remained so calm.

"Everyone has been very shocked hearing about how we had the baby!"

Rosie Eadith Walker was born safely on May 13 weighing 6lb 3oz. She's a younger sister for Evelyn, 8, and Archie, 7. Luckily Evelyn and Archie were being looked after by their nan at the time of the birth.

Honey and her new arrival were taken by ambulance to the hospital where they spent the night because Rosie was suffering from hip dysplasia. The next day Rosie was taken back to the couple's Lynch Road home.

Tom has been furloughed during the Covid-19 pandemic and is busy helping Honey with their newborn.

Honey said: "It's a bit isolating having a new baby under lockdown, my friend had a baby earlier in the year and I'm looking forward to when we can get together.

"Both Evelyn and Archie are loving having a younger sister.

"The whole thing just turned out to be a really positive experience, despite the way it happened and I will never forget the sight of four paramedics charging into my bathroom!

"I want to thank them all for their help, they gave me gas and air as soon as they arrived and I want to say thank you for helping make sure Rosie arrived safely."
