A SOUTHAMPTON man has been jailed after he stole meat alcohol and jackets before failing to stop for police.
Simon Paul Edward Welcome stole meat and alcohol from Sainsbury's on Shirley High Street on February 1.
The 45-year-old then went on to steal four Barbour jackets to the value of £676 from John Lewis, Southampton, on February 26.
On the same day, Welcome failed to stop for police on Southern Road, where he was driving a Peugeot with no insurance.
Appearing at Southampton Magistrates' Court, he pleaded guilty to two counts of theft, one count of failing to stop for police and one count of driving without insurance.
Welcome, of Medina Road, Shirley, Southampton, was jailed for a total of 18 weeks and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £85.
