LIFEGUARDS are now operating at some beaches as the RNLI's phased service roll out gets under way.

There is now a service at Bournemouth East, Boscombe East, Boscombe West and Sandbanks.

And the service is set to expand to more beaches over the coming weeks and months.

A spokesman for Poole Coastguard Rescue Team added: "Our other local lifeguard volunteer services are also starting to cover different sections of the beach.

"As always, if you get into trouble call 999 and ask for the Coastguard and we will come to your aid. But coronavirus hasn’t gone away and we all need to follow the rules.

"Remember your choices might put people, including yourself and frontline responders, at risk. Take extra care in these extraordinary times."

Lifeguards were unable to operate before the easing of lockdown restrictions and the RNLI has warned it will not be covering all beaches this summer.
