A DRIVER crashed into a parked car in a Bournemouth road before driving away from the scene.

Police were called to St Michael's Road in the West Cliff area on Saturday morning to reports of the collision, which involved a silver Vauxhall Astra and a white Mini, which was parked at the side of the road.

The Mini was damaged in the incident and had to be taken away by a recovery truck.

It was reported to police that the Vauxhall had failed to stop at the scene following the crash.

A Dorset Police spokesman said: "Dorset Police received a report at 10.09am on Saturday, June 13, of a collision on St Michael’s Road in Bournemouth involving a silver Vauxhall Astra and a parked car.

"Following enquiries, a 34-year-old man was located at an address in Bournemouth.

"He was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and taken to hospital for treatment to an injury to his forehead that was not believed to be serious. He has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries by officers."
